About AndBounds
What is AndBounds?
We were founded in 2021 by Glen Hinshaw, the founder of Resa Wear. AndBounds is a 3D printed foot care company building medical-grade footbeds for people around the world.
Glen started his journey in 2003 as a professional cyclist struggling with foot pain and poor quality orthotics. Today we build insoles that stand the test of time and are as high-quality and accurate (or more) than what you can find in podiatry offices around the world. Learn more about us.
Where did the name come from?
Improve foot care by Leaps and Bounds
The inspiration of our name reflects the improvements we’re making to the foot care industry. Off-the-shelf / OTC insoles available today are generic foam insoles with squishy gel pads or cork gimmicks. We make medical-grade insoles using modern, waste-less 3D printing processes.
We strive every day to disrupt both the medical and OTC markets by offering a top-tier product, with industry-leading customer support.
Why custom vs. off the shelf insoles?
Your feet are unique like your fingerprints. Your anatomy, how you walk,
your activities, and shoe types all play crucial roles in how you feel
on your feet. Our custom insoles are tailored to all these factors while using scans 100% accurate to your feet.
Health and Medical Benefits
Will your insoles fix my foot pain?
Tough to say. Unless you’re buying our insoles through a licensed medical provider, our insoles do not claim to treat any foot conditions. That said, our default adjustments and design templates have been designed and vetted by licensed podiatrists. We also have hundreds of success stories where customers claimed our insoles helped alleviate various types of foot pain.
Every case is unique, and if you have concerns we suggest you consult with a medical professional first. We also offer a risk-free guarantee on all orders, so you can try them out for 90 days and see if they help.
Are these insoles safe and effective for people with diabetes?
We have designed our products to be breathable, and comfortable without sacrificing all day support.
When dealing with preexisting medical conditions, we always suggest consulting with your healthcare professional before adding anything to your daily regimen.
Will my insurance provider cover my purchase?
We do not work directly with insurance providers. However, you may be able to apply for reimbursement or use a Health Spending Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) to make your purchase. Please check with your insurance provider or plan administrator for specific details on coverage and reimbursement procedures.
Can custom insoles help with back pain or other issues?
Definitely*. When standing or walking throughout the day, your feet are the first point of contact with the ground. Each pair of feet are unique, but wearing arch supports can help with posture and improve balance and your overall stance.
That said, insoles should be a part of a comprehensive treatment plan and don't substitute your doctor's advice and other positive lifestyle changes.
Fit and Sizing
What if my insoles aren't comfortable or don't fit right?
We offer a industry-leading 90 day satisfaction guarantee. We will do
everything possible to get your fit right. If you're having issues with
your order, contact us and we'll help you redesign and reprint your order at no extra charge.
If we can't get it right, we'll be happy to refund your order.
How do I select the shoe size for my order?
When ordering your insoles, we will default to your last order or the selection you made when scanning your feet on the AndBounds app.
If you wish to specify your shoe size or add details to your order, we added a field in the cart to add notes to your order.
What types of shoes will AndBounds insoles fit into?
The general rule of thumb is if your shoes have removable insoles, then our insoles should fit. High-heels and shoes that are already too tight will likely not work with our insoles, but if you need help custom fitting to a specific shoe, just contact us and we’ll be happy to help.
Will AndBounds insoles fit in all my shoes?
This depends on the types of shoes you’re looking to interchange with. Each pair of shoes has a unique shape and we often suggest buying a pair for each shape.
For example: cycling and ski boots (sport profile) are often interchangeable, whereas all-purpose might be too wide or high-volume. Neither would fit into business loafers or flats where we suggest buying our 3/4 length option.
For now, we do not offer any insoles that will fit into sandals or high-heels.
Can I buy insoles for my kids?
Definitely! We gladly produce pairs for your little ones.
My insoles are too big, what should I do?
Various shoe brands often differ from reality; running large or small. If your insoles are slightly too large, first try to fit them in. If they need to be trimmed, we included trim lines to help cut them down to size. Remember, measure twice and cut once!
If you need a redesign or reprint at a different size, just let us know and we’ll get it right.
Can I move my insole between my different shoes?
Yes of course. While we prefer designing each pair for each shoe, we often swap our insoles with similar shoe types. For example, during ski season, our cycling insoles get moved into our ski boots.
Use and Care
How long will my insoles last?
Honestly, we have insoles from 2016 (and before) that are still going strong. That said, we find that after 1-2 years, the top-covers and insoles get worn and need replacement. How often this occurs depends on how you walk and how much you’re on your feet.
If you need a new top-cover, we do offer a replacement service.
How do I care for and clean my custom insoles?
For cleaning, we suggest hand washing your insoles with mild, soapy water and leave to air dry.
My insoles stink. How I can fix odor?
Our fastest fix is to sprinkle a little baking soda onto the insole and leave overnight. Brush off the excess and get back to life.
Otherwise you can hand wash them with mild, soapy water and leave to air dry.
Do I need to break-in my insoles?
Sometimes yes. We tell new customers and those to wearing custom insoles to work into wearing their soles over the course of two days. Minor discomfort can occur and if you pain or numbness, take them off and put them back in tomorrow.
If they’re unbearable, reach out to our team and we’ll work with you to improve the design and reprint at no extra charge.
How do AndBounds insoles differ from medical orthotics?
We don’t offer prescription insoles, nor do we claim our insoles can treat any specific foot conditions. Podiatrists who are prescribing medical orthotics will add corrective adjustments such as arch modification, heel lifts, wedges, metatarsal pads, and other features based on a thorough consultation and understanding your medical history.
Our insole designs have universal features on top of your 3D foot shapes that help alleviate pain and prevent common conditions like Plantar Fasciitis, heel pain and improve overall posture. We always suggest you speak with your medical professional before wearing or using custom orthotics, especially if you have preexisting medical conditions.
